Terminal

Ctrl-` opens the terminal panel and closes it again. It is Ctrl on macOS too. In the command palette the same command reads Open terminal or Close terminal.

What it is for

A shell beside your SQL, for psql, pg_dump, a migration tool or git, without leaving the window.

What it is not

It is not connected to the database. The shell starts in your home directory with your own environment, and knows nothing about the connection open in Seqora. A psql started there needs its own connection details.

Controls

• Close terminal closes the panel and ends the shell. Opening it again starts a fresh one, which is how a new Shell setting takes effect.
• Resize terminal is the handle that resizes the panel.
• When the shell ends, the panel says so, for example Shell exited with code 0., and offers Restart terminal. The same strip reads Terminal could not start. when the shell never came up.
• While the terminal has focus, every key goes to the shell, Ctrl+W included. Only Ctrl-` reaches Seqora.

Settings

Settings, Terminal:

• Shell: Automatic, which prefers PowerShell on Windows, one of the shells found on this computer, or Custom path….
• Terminal font: a Nerd Font draws prompt glyphs correctly.
• Terminal font size: 8 to 24 px, 10 by default.
• Cursor shape: Bar, Block or Underline. Blink cursor, on by default.
• Scrollback: 1,000, 10,000 or 50,000 lines, 10,000 by default.
