Connection dialog

Add connection (Mod-Shift-n) opens it. Step one reaches the server, step two files the connection.

Step one: Connect a database

  • Engine: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, or Alt+1 to Alt+4.
  • Connection URL on your clipboard offers a copied URL. Use it fills the form.
  • Connection URL fills the fields below. A password in it moves to Password.
  • Host, Port, Username, Password (Optional), Database, marked Required on every engine but PostgreSQL.
  • SQLite shows Database file and Browse… instead: "A local .db, .sqlite, or .sqlite3 file. Seqora stores only its path."
  • Opened from a seqora://connect link, the form carries the banner From a link. Check it before you connect.

On server engines, three chips open panels:

  • TLS, labelled with the current mode:
    • Prefer (TLS if available): "Uses TLS when the server offers it."
    • Require (TLS required): "Refuses to connect without TLS."
    • Verify (TLS verified): "Requires TLS and checks the certificate and hostname."
    • Off (TLS off): "Sends traffic unencrypted. Use only on trusted networks."
  • No SSH tunnel, SSH via <host> once set: the Connect through an SSH tunnel switch, hosts From ~/.ssh/config, SSH host, Port, SSH username, then Sign in with: Private key (~/.ssh/id_ed25519, with an optional Passphrase), Password (SSH password) or SSH agent. Secrets read Stored encrypted on this device. An unknown server stops at Trust this SSH server? with its fingerprint, Trust and connect and Cancel; a changed key offers Forget the saved host key.
  • 10s timeout: Connection timeout, from the setting of that name.

Connect (Mod-Enter) is the test: there is no separate button. A wrong field is marked with Seqora couldn’t connect.; other failures name the engine and may offer Retry with a 30s timeout, Retry without certificate verification or Retry with TLS only if available.

Import connections… in the footer reads .pgpass, pg_service.conf, a MySQL option file, a .env file, DBeaver, DataGrip and TablePlus. Pick a Save to workspace and environment, tick the connections, and Import N connections. They start offline and locked.

Step two: Save connection

  • A summary of engine, server version and connect time. Edit details goes back.
  • Name: left empty, it is the database name, or the file name on SQLite.
  • Database: the server's databases, when it has several.
  • Workspace, Environment: choose, or type a new name.
  • New workspace color: for a new workspace.
  • Open read-only: "Blocks writes until you unlock it from the sidebar." For production it starts on: "On by default for production. Unlock from the sidebar when you need to write."
  • Back, Save connection (Mod-Enter).
