Design workbench

The design workbench is the ER diagram made editable, and is Pro on all four engines. Open it from Design changes on a diagram, New schema design or Edit in schema design in the explorer, or Design changes to <schema> in the palette.

Toolbar

  • New table (T), with New table key beside it choosing the key a new table gets: bigint identity key or uuid key on PostgreSQL, bigint auto-increment key or char(36) uuid key on MySQL and MariaDB, INTEGER rowid key or TEXT uuid key on SQLite.
  • Undo (Mod-z), Redo (Mod-Shift-z), Arrange.
  • Export: the diagram export, plus scope Changes and Show as Changes, After or Before.
  • Review and apply: opens the review under the eyebrow Review changes (Review dialogs). Pro badge on Free.

Canvas menus

  • Empty canvas: New table here, Arrange automatically, Fit view.
  • A table: Add column, Rename, Open table data, and Drop table for a live table or Remove table for a new one. A dropped table offers Keep table.
  • A column: the toggles Primary key, Unique and Required, then Add index and Drop column.

Drag a column's dot onto another table. New link asks for Many-to-one, One-to-one or Many-to-many, Required, and On delete. Undo link takes it back, Done keeps it.

Inspector

  • Nothing selected: the design name, Changes, Blockers and Warnings counts, Issues, Suggestions.
  • A table: name, columns with Type and Required, Keys, Indexes, Links, Comment.
  • A column: Default, Identity, Required (NOT NULL), Unique, Indexed. A Default must be one expression; a comma or NOT NULL outside brackets, an unclosed quote or unbalanced brackets is a blocker.
  • A link: Cardinality, Deferrable, On delete and On update (No action, Restrict, Cascade, Set null, Set default).

SQL

The SQL pane rewrites itself after every edit. Each statement carries risk tags: Deletes data, Rewrites table, Scans table, Blocks reads and writes, Blocks writes. Selection only narrows it to the selected object. Copy SQL copies it.

Saved designs

Designs are stored, as drafts or applied, in Seqora's encrypted app database. Design changes lists them under Saved designs, each with Delete design, which asks Delete design '<name>'? and changes nothing in the database. On Free they open read-only. A design tab comes back after a restart and keeps its undo history while you are on another tab; a deleted design's tab offers Close tab.
